Vlog Series: Inspiration For The Midwife

Vlog Series: Inspiration For The Midwife

Hello, friends!

This week I’m answering the first question in the vlog series; the content of which you get to select by asking me whatever you would like (believe me, I’m an open book, so ask away!).

It was so much fun to hear everyone’s questions, and I can’t wait to answer them over the next four weeks.

This week’s question was submitted by The Miting author Dee Yoder and selected by Random.org.

What inspired you to write The Outcast and The Midwife? Do you have any real life stories that influence what you put into a story?

But, first things first, I want to give a shout-out to the sweet readers, who each took the time to send me a picture of them holding The Midwife, my second book baby.

Carolyn Massengale is a doula (assistant to the midwife) located in Eastern Kentucky. She was the first friend of mine to finish reading The Midwife. Here is what she said: "Just finished the book. It was so intense and hard to read emotionally, but so beautiful at the same time."

Victoria Robertson, my high school friend, was the first to post a picture of her holding The Midwife.

June 1 is The Midwife’s official launch day, and I’m so excited to share the incredible giveaways my publisher and I have put together to celebrate.

There are two giveaways going on this week. The first is at Soul Inspirationz (The Midwife and The Outcast) and the second is at Amish Wisdom (The Midwife).

Just follow the links to both places and leave a comment to enter your name in the drawing.

Now here is my vlog post in response to Dee Yoder’s question; don’t forget to ask me some questions for next week!

  • Aw, thank you, Melissa! Deadline is June 15th (though release date’s going to be pushed back due to the baby’s birth), so I am working double-time. Poor Randy, my first-reader/editor, is too! 😉

Just wanted to encourage you, Jolina! I am currently reading The Outcast. I’ve never read or been attracted to Amish Fiction and it has been months since I’ve found a story worth reading from beginning till end, but your debut is proving to be a really good book so far. Wish I had more time to savour it. Congratulations on the release of your latest, sounds like a great one too, and warmest blessings for your pregnancy.

  • That was a wonderful vlog post, Jolina. Thank you for answering my question. I’m going to put The Midwife on my Nook ASAP. (And thanks for mentioning The Miting. That was sweet of you!)
