Check Out My Essay in Reader’s Digest!
Hello, friends,
I won’t take up your Sunday morning (especially now that we’ve had the time change and need double espresso shots in our coffee!), but I would love if you’d swing by Reader’s Digest and read my essay about the librarian who changed my life by encouraging my love for reading.
I have always had a special place in my heart for libraries, since they provided me with the ability to read more books than I could have ever afforded as a child. I want my daughter to have the same opportunity growing up, so let’s support libraries today!
Blessings to you all!

Lovely…absolutely lovely, Jolina. (And in RD…wow!!)

Aw, thanks, Katherine! It was shocking for me too. Came out of nowhere! 🙂

Great article, Jolina! You are right, it is no telling how many lives are touched by simple deeds. I have decided to write letters to people who have touched me in different ways to let them know just what their small act meant to me. Several years ago now, I wrote a poem for my first grade teacher letting her know how she made my first year of school so special. It really meant so much to her.

I bet she will keep that always, Melanie; those little acts of kindness are truly priceless. Thanks for reminding me to be thoughtful today! Hugs to you!

Jolina, I just finished reading your essay in RD (the large print version that I purchased for my aging mom). I enjoyed it so much that I immediately looked up your website to find more about you! I wanted to share your story on FB with a friend who is a writer. So I found your post about it and shared it on my FB with her. I went to your FB page and “Liked” you. I read your “about” you and found that your favorite books were mine also and here on this site you love “One Thousand Gifts”, Ann Voscamp. I do too! Ha ha! You’ll think I’m crazy writing this! But I am excited to discover you and I will read your new book, The Outcast.
Thanks, Terri

Oh my, Terri! I think your note is the sweetest thing ever–not crazy at all! What an honor that you searched to find me and took the time to say hello. I’m glad you enjoyed the essay about the librarian, who is still so dear to my heart. Looking forward to connecting with you further! Blessings to you, my new friend!
